Comparing two versions of a document

EstateDraftFL does not compare two versions of your document or tell you which one favors you. Here is what a redline is, generally, and where to take yours.

  • Insertions and deletions

    A redline marks every word added to or removed from an earlier version, in place, so two readers can see exactly what changed.

  • Moved and rewritten passages

    Clauses that were relocated or restated show as a deletion in one place and an insertion in another; a careful comparison pairs them.

  • What it does not say

    A redline shows what changed. Whether a change helps or hurts you, and what you might ask for instead, is a judgment about your own position — a lawyer's judgment.
