Moving in

Moving your practice in — by hand, with you

There is no automated importer. This page says what the onboarding service does by hand with your firm, what your firm imports itself, how the move is validated, and the limits.

No automated importer

There is no automated importer

Nothing on the platform reads a practice-management system, a document-management system or another vendor's export and creates matters, clients or documents from it. A matter is opened by a person, one at a time, with its client's invitation. Clio, where a firm connects it, links a matter to its existing matter in Clio and exports an approved packet version to it — it does not import from it.

An automated practice-management importer is an excluded offering until one exists (the combination plan's decision D15): the surface that would imply it says this instead.

What onboarding does by hand

In order. Each step links to the page that shows how it works and what it refuses.

  1. A working session, with you

Onboarding ($350, once) is a person configuring the workspace with your firm — your branding, letterhead, support line and reviewing-attorney workflow — and opening your first client matter with you in a 30-minute working session. Nothing is uploaded on your behalf without you on the call.

  2. Your conflict registers, before the first matter

Declined parties, prior affiliations and your joint-representation policy are entered under Firm settings → Conflicts, by your staff or with us in the session; every door screens against them from then on. There is no bulk upload of a register: each line is entered and read back.

  3. Your records policy

How many years after a matter closes its records are kept (1 to 25, or none), and the disclosure switch for new shares — set once in Firm settings → Records.

How it works — Your records policy

  4. Your clause text

Your own clause variants for the estate-plan lane are proposed in the firm playbook and approved by one of your attorneys, version by version. We can enter them with you; the approval is yours alone.

How it works — Your clause text

  5. Your open matters, one at a time

Each client is added from the console; the conflict screen runs first, then the matter lands in your workstation with the client's portal invitation ready. Add the matters you are actively working; closed files stay where they are.

How it works — Your open matters, one at a time

  6. A trust's assets and ledger, from your spreadsheet

The matter's CSV import matches your columns by name, shows a preview, and saves nothing until you confirm. It is the one import on the platform, and it is per matter.

  7. Source documents, to the matter

Uploaded to the matter by your staff: a revised file adds a version and never replaces the earlier one, and every upload passes the structural check before it is read. A scanned page with no text layer is stored but not read.

How it works — Source documents, to the matter

  8. Your calendar

Subscribe Outlook, Apple or Google to the deadline feed (ICS) — confirmed dates only, revocable. The OAuth push into the firm's own calendar waits for the firm's credentials.

What your firm does itself

No session needed — the console does these with your administrator.

  • Your team and their second factor

Invite attorneys and paralegals from Firm settings; each enrolls an authenticator app at first sign-in. Ending a member's access is one control, recorded.

  • Read keys and signed webhooks

A firm admin mints read keys scoped to exactly what each may see and registers signed webhooks — so your own systems read where matters stand without moving the record.

  • Taking your records out, any time

A matter's export (one JSON file) and its file hand-over bundle are not behind a paid plan; the roster and the billing activity export as CSV; the read API lists the firm's matters by id, state and date.

How the move is validated

The console's own readiness checks — the same ones the buyer's page lists under Getting started — are the validation summary: each shows what is done and what completes it.

  • The responsible attorney confirms responsibilityReadiness check

Approvals and deliveries need an attorney-level role, the firm's current terms and that confirmation, given once in the console.

  • Your identityReadiness check

A display name, and a logo or accent colour — the portal and every invitation carry them.

  • Your client support lineReadiness check

A support email or phone, shown on the client portal and in reminders.

  • Your teamReadiness check

Invite attorneys and paralegals — as many as you have.

  • How you payReadiness check

A membership by card in the console, or pay as you go on each matter.

  • Your practice lanesReadiness check

Trust administration, estate-plan drafting and probate: a membership covers each matter from its allowance; without one, each matter is bought on its own.

  • Your first client matterReadiness check

Add a client: the matter lands in your workstation with the client's portal invitation ready. We open it with you in a 30-minute working session.

  • Your client signs inReadiness check

The client opens the invitation; the console's readiness check shows who has not yet.

Limits

What a firm should know before planning a move.

  • Clients and matters are added one at a time; there is no bulk import of matters, clients or documents.
  • No practice-management or document-management system is read: Clio, where connected, is linked to and exported to, never imported from.
  • An existing firm account on the national EstateDraft.ai product is not merged or moved into this platform by any automatic step; a consented move is a separate program with its own written manifest.
  • A scanned page with no text layer is not read — no text recognition runs, and nothing on such a page can be cited.
  • Signing is recorded for wet ink only; an electronic envelope never completes a signing record.
  • The firm console and the documents are in English.

State coverage — Florida is the only state offered, by capability family.

Start with the workspace

Create it in a minute — nothing is charged at signup; the working session is booked once you are in.
